SCHLOSS ALBRECHTSBERG GROUND FLOOR

On the Ground Floor, the Garden Hall with the South Terrace in front and the adjacent Billiard Hall and Tea Room welcome guests to the house.

GARDEN Hall

The Garden Hall on the Ground Floor has its own special charm. Invitingly cosy, not too ostentatious, and leading directly out into the countryside, it exudes a familiar atmosphere. Striking columns divide the hall into three parts (galleries and central section).

With their gilded ornamental design, the discreet grey wall surfaces in the central part of the hall have a restrained effect and give priority to the magnificent view through the three large French windows. The galleries invite you on a brief trip around the world. Here you can see landscape paintings depicting Prince Albrecht's favourite travel destinations – Cairo, Constantinople, Merano, and Naples. The Merano painting is the last surviving original painted on canvas by Professor Ferdinand Schirmer. The surrounding paintings are restored replicas.

BILLIARD HALL AND TEA ROOM

Two further rooms adjoin the Garden Hall. First, you’ll enter the Billiard Hall, the larger room: Its green wall surfaces decorated with gold bands and a colourful stucco coffered ceiling that has been preserved in its original state lend it a special charm. This is followed by the Tea Room, the former smoking room of the masters of the house. This small passageway room stands out with its bold purple walls and a stucco coffered ceiling with oak pilasters and stucco capitals similar to that of the Billiard Hall.

SOUTH TERRACE

The Garden Halls large French doors lead directly out onto the spacious Mediterranean-style terrace. Embedded in the scenic beauty of the harmoniously designed Castle Park, it offers a unique view: From the Elbe hillside with the Roman baths to the gentle ridges of the East Ore Mountains on the horizon. Dresden’s panorama and its Elbe meadows immediately captivate every visitor.
